There are a lot of great reasons for living in North Texas. Unfortunately the type of soils here is not one of them. Underlying most of this part of the country is what are known as ‘expansive soils’. What this means is that changes in moisture create huge pressure changes in the soils and as they expand and contract and move up or down, they take your house with them. If the movement was slow and even, it may not matter all that much, but that is just not how nature works.
